In the first phase of System Development Life Cycle, scope, opportunities and goals of the problem represented by the information system project are determined. The success of the rest of the project depends on the correct definition of the problem. In the scope of the problem; size, borders, vision, constraints, limits, stakeholders, budget and timing of the project are determined.

The purpose of the feasibility study is to investigate likelihood of the system development project.

Operational feasibility: In general, the new system is designed for faster access and effective sharing of information. In this step, the questions must be answered such as: Is the suggested system suitable to the structure of the business?

Legal Feasibility: It is an assessment to determine whether any aspect of the proposed system conflicts with the current legal requirements both in domestic and international terms like data protection laws, zoning laws or contractual and procurement related laws.

Interviewing with the potential users is the best way to determine the system requirements. The users of the existing system and prospective users of the proposed system are the best information sources.

Design:
In this phase of SDLC, system analyst uses previously collected knowledge for the design of the information system.

System Support: Includes technical support given to the system users in case of system failures and maintenance services for any failure or when new requirements arise.

In-House Development is defined as the development of information system by using the sources that exist in the firm.
