Business information systems also consist of sub-information systems corresponding to the business functional subsystems. Accordingly, business information systems are comprised of marketing information systems, production information systems, human resources information systems and accounting/finance information systems.

Marketing function of business interests with product pricing, advertising, sales of current products in current markets, developing new markets and new products to attract current and potential customers. Marketing information systems are oriented for gathering, processing, storing, researching, analyzing and evaluating information that will help an enterprise to make marketing decisions, and ensuring the flow of information within the enterprise.
